THE SITUATION

UPDATE (March 12, 2023) This past weekend we were connected to a wonderful conservationist in South Africa with extensive knowledge of this situation and the challenge. He and his qualified team have many years of experience safely translocating elephants and other African wildlife all over the world.

He informed us that several other conservationists and orgs ALSO accepted the ‘challenge’ and were also met with radio silence when they asked the same questions we have.

We have learned that at least 50 of the elephants have been safely relocated. However, there are many more that need to be rescued. We learned more in one day from speaking with this man, than in the past several weeks trying to make sense of the Jens Ulrik Hogh video.

We’ve learned at least 50 elephants have been successfully translocated, but substantially more need help - particularly a smaller group who are as we type this, under gunfire from hunters.

UPDATE (March 9th, 2023) Despite writing three separate emails and 1 text to Jens Ulrik Hogh, of the Nordic Safari Club (a group of trophy hunters) he has refused to answer our questions. We simply asked him how many elephants are actually in peril, where they are located now, and the name of the owners who are giving them away.

We need this information to continue the serious and responsible conversations we are having with potential reserves who could take them on.

**AS OF 3/14/23 HE HAS NOT RESPONDED TO ANY OF OUR REQUESTS**

THE SITUATION: We were alerted to a situation in South Africa by a public video challenge from trophy hunter, Jens Ulrik Hogh of the Nordic Safari Club (a trophy hunter collective.) He stated that as many as 500 elephants could become targets for trophy hunters if wildlife advocates didn’t accept the challenge to find alternative homes for the elephants before May 2023.

We’ve joined together with a number of wildlife advocates from around the world to take up this challenge and we wrote to Jens to let him know WE would help. He claims on his site that NOBODY has come forward to help. (THIS IS UNTRUE, see above).

More soon!
