Wildlife rehabilitation centers Across africa

Rehabilitation Budget Planning Meeting

We aim to be part of the solution; to heal, rehabilitate, rewild and respect.

Wildlife Rehabilitation Centers

When our friends at We Wild Africa introduced us to Deirdre and Arno Joubert, Dr Peete, Mark and their hard-working volunteers at Wild and Free Rehabilitation Center, we clicked instantly! Due to circumstances beyond their control, they had to move from their previous location and while they had the plans and the land to move to, they lacked the funding needed. We jumped at the chance to participate! Over and Above Africa and the Vitale Family Fund committed to fund their state of the art, rehabilitation center - and with our partners, We Wild Africa, managing the project, we all set about the task. In only 8 months, our FIRST Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will open!

Understanding how few wildlife rehabilitation centers there are throughout Africa, we learned there was a dire need for these facilities. For vets to be able to access state of the art equipment and supplies for all kinds of wildlife traumas. This inspired us to expand our mandate over the next ten years: Build these centers across Africa - but we’ll need your help to pull it off!

It all started when…

Well, nine years ago, which is when we launched Over and Above Africa! Our professional mandate was to help protect and defend endangered wildlife in Africa and support the communities they impact. Our personal mandate was to learn from each trusted partner on the ground; exactly what the critical issues facing wildlife were - and how we could be of service to them.

Nearly a decade later, we’ve accomplished so much together! Our “project” tab overflows with videos of completed and ongoing projects - in 8 African countries - which you’ve helped to accomplish!

Through your donations and your support, we continue to fund vital initiatives facing wildlife that are primarily suffering due to humans. Commercial poaching, human/ animal conflicts because of continual land grabs, leaving wildlife no place else to roam, and forcing showdowns with humans. One, or both, will often end up badly hurt or dead.
