CHERYL PINTO

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Cheryl Pinto joined our team at the end of 2021, bringing over 25 years of diverse experience in the food manufacturing industry, based in both Canada and the United States and traveling extensively for business across Europe, Africa, Central and South America. Her skill set, focusing on commercialization and value chain development strategy, gives Cheryl the unique opportunity to catalyze sustainability efforts starting at origin, working with diverse farmers across the Global North and South, spanning dairy to vanilla, all the way through to product development and procurement policy.

Cheryl loves being in the field and meeting the people who grow the many ingredients we take for granted on our supermarket shelves – her ‘living the dream’ day job involves promoting better stewardship of these rural communities in order to protect, restore, and regenerate natural ecosystems for all inhabitants.

Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Cheryl lived a short while in London, England, and mainly grew up in Toronto, Canada, where she earned her B.Sc. in Biology. Cheryl received her MBA in Finance and Strategy from the University of Chicago and, while in Chicago, Cheryl actively participated in wildlife rescue which fueled her curiosity and desire to do more to bring about healthy interaction between human activity and wildlife.

Now residing in Vermont, Cheryl has served on the Board of Directors of Divine Chocolate and currently serves on the Advisory Boards of the Sustainable Food Lab, University of Vermont’s Gund Institute for Environment, and Audubon Vermont. With her proud African roots and love of wildlife, Cheryl is thrilled and humbled to be supporting Over and Above Africa.
